World Series Game 7 Attracts 51 Million Audience Members In the US, Canada and Japan Regions.

The thrilling extended clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Blue Jays 5-4 drew a total 51M watchers in the US, Canada, and Japan territories. MLB stated this marks the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 after the 1991 showdown between the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Television Viewership Details

The Saturday memorable game drew over 27 million audience members on Fox Sports networks, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated program of the previous week.

It also stands as the most-watched Fall Classic game after the 2017 Game 7 between the Dodgers and Astros, which drew over 29 million. This marks a sixteen percent increase over the last finale between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 placed fourth, the fourth game was 7th, the fifth game was 8th, and Game 3 landed in thirteenth position.

Global Audience Figures

In Canada, the climactic game recorded 11.6 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the highest-rated English-language broadcast in Canada after the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding game started at 9 PM in the local time zone, it averaged 12 million. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – in which World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up one run in six frames – recorded 13.1M spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic game on a single network in Japan.

Series Totals and Trends

The full seven-game World Series recorded over 15.7 million viewers on the Fox network, a 2% increase from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This marks the initial instance since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded viewership increases for two consecutive seasons.

Including the opening game broadcast on Univision, the complete American viewership reached over 16 million. The overall Fall Classic viewership in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete playoffs on Fox and its sister channels recorded 8.09M viewers, an eight percent increase over last year and the network’s strongest playoff performance since 2017.

MLB announced that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 countries and territories by forty-four media partners in sixteen various languages.
